LEXANDER DESOUZA is an Indo-Canadian DIRECTOR, WRITER and EDITOR. In 2018 his short MOTHER’S DAY was nominated for a Golden Sheaf at North America’s longest running film festival, dubbed in foreign languages and later distributed by SHORTS TV. His 2019 short, SKIN screened at the 23ᴿᴰ Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival and was subsequently featured on Film Shortage. His 2025 short HOLO, starring Shane West, Morgan Kohan and Zelda Williams is currently premiering on the festival circuit. Additional directing credits include the pilot BACK TO ONE currently in development with Colrize Productions as well as the short docs ART IN THE WILD and TAKE A HARD LOOK both commissioned by CBC ARTS. First starting in the industry as an assistant editor, Alexander has assisted on numerous features and series including the CSA nominated documentary Disco’s Revenge in which he was presented the Assistant Editor Recognition Award from the Canadian Cinema Editors Association. His work as an editor has premiered at festivals including the recent Edmonton International Film Festival. Alexander is currently set to make his TV Editing debut on the teen drama series The Next Step: Cheer for CBBC in fall 2025 and will be making his directorial feature debut in summer 2026 based on a book adaptation. Alexander is co-founder of THE WONDERLIGHT COMPANY a media entertainment company he runs with his brother. He holds a BFA in Film from York University and is an alumni of the 2019 Reykjavik Film Festival Talent Lab. Alexander is a full member of the Directors Guild of Canada, Directors UK, the Canadian Cinema Editors Association, BAFTA and is a voting member of the Canadian Screen Academy.
