Dance Therapy
Amanda is skeptical of dance therapy's effectiveness. "There's a lot of papers right now showing that dance therapy is not as impressive as we all thought it was. And I am a scientist at heart and I go by what I'll be scientists say."
Join thirteen-year-old Leta, an amazing tap dancer and the founder of Autistic Wings Dance Company, and her mom, Amanda, as they share insights into Leta's autistic life.
Thirteen years old Leta is a member of Chloe Arnold's international youth tap company, SoleTalk, a podcaster, a founder of a nonprofit dance studio for autistic dancers like her, severely dyslexic, and has autism. Along with her mom, Amanda, Leta discusses a varity of issues from the bullying Leta has faced in dance studios because of her autism and dyslexia, to the difficulties of starting a new nonprofit. Along the way, Leta and Amanda also talk about Leta's love of tap dancing. They also host special guests ranging from Leta's dance family and friends, to experts in ASD, to parents and advocates of complex kids. We are looking for dancers (especially tap dancers) or former dancers to come on the program and talk about their love of dance. We are also looking for autistic people from all walks of life, parents of autistic children/adults, people who work within the autistic community, SpEd teachers, therapists, advocates, medical professionals, people with dyslexia, and people who work with people with dyslexia.
