Dr. C. Patrick Burrowes is the author of six books on Liberian history and many scholarly articles. While conducting archival research in 2021, he found the original land purchase agreement for the site now known as Monrovia; it had been missing for almost 200 years. His research has been featured in a variety of media, including ABC-TV, the Smithsonian magazine, the Washington Post, the New York Times, and the BBC documentary series Africa in History as well as FrontPage Africa, the Observer newspaper and Focus on Liberia. In 2025, he was awarded the Order of Africa, at the rank of Grand Commander, Liberia’s highest distinction for literature. Patrick holds a Ph. D., Communications, from Temple University.
