Green claims questioned while climate tech inches toward pilots

A new study finds 98% of environmental claims by the world's biggest meat and dairy firms are misleading, eroding consumer trust and forcing brands to reckon with credibility gaps (report). [P]At the same time, Global Witness alleges Amazon, Sony, and Ericsson likely sourced coltan from rebel-run mines in the DRC, underscoring that supply-chain ethics can undo sustainability PR (investigation). Tech and nature solutions are advancing too: Mitsubishi and VTT pushed ocean carbon capture toward pilot validation and GM is pitching EV batteries and sodium-ion cells as grid assets to help power AI data centers — promising real-world tools even as trust gets tested (ocean capture, GM EVs as grid).
